Vote for Jeremy Irons and ‘The Gods Weep’ in the WhatsOnStage Awards 2011 – “theatergoers choice”

Here’s your chance to nominate Jeremy Irons as ‘Best Actor in a Play’ for The Gods Weep for the WhatsOnStage Awards 2011 – “theatregoers’ choice”.  There are other categories you can put a vote in for as well: (Best New Play, Best Supporting Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, Best Director).

Here is a list to remind you of the other actors involved:  Nikki Amuka-Bird (Beth), Karen Archer (Astrologer), Neal Barry (Ian), Babou Ceesay (Gavin), Sam Hazeldine (Old Soldier/Beth’s husband), Joanna Horton (Barbara), Stephen Noonan (Richard), Luke Norris (Jimmy), Sally Orrock (Nadine), Helen Schlesinger (Catherine), Laurence Spellman (Martin), John Stahl (Castile) and Matthew Wilson (Security Guard).

Please vote for Maria Aberg, the director of The Gods Weep. The set designer is Naomi Dawson and the lighting designer is David Holmes. Please put your votes in for as many people as you can who were involved in this wonderful RSC production.

Read the rules carefully on the voting page at WhatsOnStage, as there are some categories that do not apply to The Gods Weep.

The voting begins today, 1 November 2010, and will run the entire month of November. On Friday 3 December, a full Awards shortlist will be announced at  a lunchtime ceremony at Cafe de Paris in the heart of the West End. The Launch Party will feature many West End stars, both entertaining the audience with live musical performances and helping to announce the nominations. Simon Russel Beale will speak on behalf of this year’s adopted charity, The Theatrical Guild.

Following the launch party, the voting will begin for the WhatsOnStage Awards winners. Voting for the actual awards will begin on 3 December and will run through the end of January. Once the results are announced, the awards will be presented live in front of theatergoer voters at the Winners’ Concert on Sunday 20 February 2011 at the West End’s Prince of Wales Theatre (also the home of Mamma Mia).
