Jeremy Irons set to star in ‘Night Train to Lisbon’

According to Variety, Jeremy Irons will star in the upcoming film adaptation by Billie August of Pascal Mercier’s bestselling novel, Night Train to Lisbon. The film will be produced by Studio Hamburg Production and Zurich-based C-Films. The film has secured $2.9 from Eurimages, as well as federal and regional funds in Germany.

Jeremy Irons will play a Swiss professor of classical languages who, after a chance encounter with a Portuguese woman, quits his job and travels to Lisbon in the hope of discovering the fate of a certain author, a doctor and poet who fought against Portuguese dictator Antonio de Oliveira Salazar.
